Sea and sunlight call ocean lovers to gather at Taijiang again.
We will walk in alleys, search for the memory of coastal locals.
We will take the pipe raft and cruise on the ocean into the wind.
We will encounter a challenge of wisdom, courage and physical strength.
We will experience the life of local, transform into environmental envoys and do our bit for the land.
The Taijiang National Park is located along the coast of southwest Taiwan. It has abundant wetlands and ocean habitats. It contains the heritage culture of the Kingdom of Tungning and the culture of traditional fishery and salt industries. It is the best place for outdoor exploration and learning. The Taijiang National Park Headquarters (hereinafter referred to as the Headquarters) will hold the seventh “Taijiang Ocean Lover Camp,” the most anticipated summer camp every year. Registration is about to begin. New fifth to seventh-grade students in Taiwan are welcome to join us for the adventure and exploration of the story of the land and a meaningful summer vacation!
The Headquarters planned a special camp “Taijiang Ocean Lover Camp” based on the wetlands and ocean. The objective of the camp is to teach kids to care more about the environment, and learn independence and teamwork. This four-day camp will be from July 9 to 12, 2019. The event includes the exploration of heritage culture in Anping, observation of intertidal zone, beach cleaning, experience of a day in the life of an oyster farmer, and canoe challenge. Through all kinds of experience activities, children learn about the profound local natural habitat, humanity history and industrial economy. These activities help children build interpersonal communication skills, and enhance the knowledge and skill of ecological conservation. We hope that kids can take action for environmental protection.
Primary participants of the event are new fifth to seventh-grade students in Taiwan. Each participant will be charged NT$ 3,000. A total of 36 participants are expected. The participants are enrolled based on the order of registration. A full subsidy will be granted to six low-income children. Those who wish to apply for the subsidy must provide proof of low-income household. Only one child per household is eligible for the full subsidy. Online sign-up starts on Thursday the May 16, 2019 at 10:00 am. Only limited spots are available. For event information and registration, please go to the website of Taijiang National Park. For any questions, please call the Interpretation and Education Section (06-2842600, ext. 1514, 1516 and 1509).
